This December marks the 60th anniversary of Monsignor Duffy’s Priestly Ordination. Our families all were well served for 23 years by Fr. Duffy as our Pastor at Blessed Sacrament. He taught us by example to see the face of Christ in all.
Since fall 2012, Msgr. Duffy has been a resident of the Jeanne Jugan Residence on Harewood Road in Washington, DC. Msgr. Duffy has graciously agreed to use his special anniversary as a way to increase awareness of the needs of the Little Sisters and the elderly poor whom they serve.
Currently, the Jeanne Jugan Residence is in need of major repair including leaking windows, outdated and inefficient heating and cooling systems, plumbing and electric. Other work to be included in the renovation is the updating of bedrooms and bathrooms for the Sisters, as well as the Chapel for the Sisters and the Residents. The total cost of repairs and improvements to their home is $10 million.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to join me and our committee in honoring Msgr. Duffy and helping the Little Sisters by making a generous gift to this effort. Please know that your gift can be paid over a period of five years. Whatever you are able to do will be gratefully received by the Little Sisters, and used in the most efficient manner possible to help the elderly poor whom they serve.
