Members of the Little Sisters of the Poor’ Hospitality Club organized and today are headlining a talent show at the Jeanne Jugan Residence. The auditorium is full and guests, Sisters and Residents wait — with great anticipation — for the show to start. Sr. Janet Mary welcomes everyone, and the show opens with a beautiful rendition of Shubert’s Ave Maria, sung by Katie George. Other members of the Hospitality Club are eager to share their talents with the Residents. Anna Hall reads two thoughtful poems, “Footprints in the Sand” and “The Christian Life.” Ashley and Sydney Maucher lead the audience with Hannah Montana’s upbeat and interactive song and dance “Hoe down Throwndown.” Gabriella Capizzi plays two piano pieces (Orange and Soft Shoe Blues), while her siblings, Juliana, Lily and Peter each play a short song. Next, the Residents enjoy singing along to “When the Saints Come Marching In.” The Capizzi siblings sing “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid. Following, Peter sings “Fireman Sam!” and “Seize the Day” from Newsies. Juliana completes talent show with a touching solo of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.

With the help of two Association Jeanne Jugan Members, Carmel Kang and Evelyn Calimbo, the show ends with a procession honoring Our Lady. Noah Maria Victoria and Bernadette Pacheco with the guidance of Carmel decorate a table with blue and white cloths. They place a heart shaped candleholder displaying 9 vigil lights. Evelyn organized the procession. Vanessa Mushtare in the lead carries a statue of the Blessed Mother. The rest of the children follow and place a flower in a vase next to a beautiful statue of Mary. Last, but not least, comes Sydney Maucher who crowns Mary. Throughout the procession, we sing Marian Hymns and as it ends, everyone recites a short consecration prayer to Mary. The Residents thoroughly enjoy the show and meeting the children. There is a nice reception with snacks and soda after the show. It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon for the members of the Hospitality Club, the Residents, the guests and the Sisters!
