Every year we usher in spring with Washington’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival. This year we jumped into a new featured event, the Petal Porch Parade, decorating the front of our building with cherry blossoms and kites. We registered our Home on the official Porch Parade website so it was included on the interactive map. But that is not all! On Sunday, April 11, we were thrilled and privileged to receive a visit from the Parade cars and a live band! The fleet of ten cars were painted in cherry blossom themes and driven by friendly volunteers who actually got out of their cars to dance for us! The New Orleans jazz-style band played from the top of a double decker tourist bus and they were really good and super friendly. The whole show lasted a little over a half hour and it was the best thing that’s happened to us since the pandemic began. Thank you to the Cherry Blossom Festival planners for giving us this joyful afternoon!
