On October 13 a busload of us were treated to a wonderful outing by the Knights of Columbus, Fr Diamond Council, Fairfax, Virginia. Mr Kevin Darr organized the whole day for us, beginning with a tour of the Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore, daily Mass there, lunch at the catholic Center across the street, and then time at St Mary’s Spiritual Center on Paca Street, the first seminary in our country and the site where St Elizabeth Ann Seton and Mother Mary Elizabeth Lange discerned their vocations as foundresses of religious communituies.
We were blown away by the historical significance and sheer beauty of these sites, so different from the Basilica in our neighborhood, but so beautiful! We especially enjoyed winding through the crypt of the Basilica, with its old brick and new additions like the infant Jesus statue from the Philippines.
Thank you to Kevin Darr and the Knights of Columbus in Fairfax for sponsoring a memorable day for us!
